Eligibility:
Persons must be at least 21 years old and have obtained a valid Illinois FOID Card under Illinois Law 430 ILCS 65/. Refer to the specific laws that apply on the Illinois State Police website: www.isp.state.il.us.
The Training:
You will receive specific training in the proper use of current and emerging Red Dot Sight (RDS) Optics for Handguns. Instruction will be given concerning the correct mounting of the sight systems along with various options concerning sight and weapon interface. Battery and optics care will also be addressed along with establishing a proper zero for your sights. Correct presentation of the handgun to the eye will be instructed along with a number of drills presented using alternate sighting methods should your RDS fail.
Registration:
Tuition is $80.00 per person for the 3 hour class. There will be two (2) sessions scheduled for the above date. Class size will be limited to 5 students each and will fill quickly. The listed price includes all range fees. Students must be pre-registered and have an enrollment/deposit form on file. Upon approving your registration, a course rules and administration sheet will be emailed back to you with additional class information.
Equipment:
You will need the following items for this course: 1) A defensive caliber handgun equipped with an RDS. 2) 100 rds of target ammunition (minimum). 3) At least 2 usable magazines for your handgun. 4) A usable holster (OWB or IWB). 5) Eye and ear protection. 6) An open mind. All other equipment requirements will be emailed to you as part of your enrollment packet. Certificates of completion will be provided at the end of the class.
