Eligibility:
Persons must be 21 years old and eligible to be issued an Illinois FOID Card under Illinois Law 430 ILCS 65/. Refer to the specific laws that apply on the Illinois State Police website: www.isp.state.il.us.
The Training:
You will receive relevant training pursuant to the Illinois Firearm Concealed Carry Act, all required legal sections under the FOID Act, and Illinois Use of Force Statutes. Additionally, you will receive specific training on the following: Proper Defensive Mindset, Basic Firearms Safety, Home, Vehicle, and Public Storage, Basic Principles of Marksmanship, Handgun and Ammunition Selection, Cleaning and Maintenance of your handgun, Loading and Unloading of the handgun, Dry / Live Fire Practice.
Registration:
The course tuition will be $80.00 per person for the sixteen (16) hour class. The listed price includes all class materials and reange use fees. students must be pre-registered and have a deposit ($40.00) on file to attend this class. Upon receiving your registration, a course rules and administration form will be emailed to you with additional information. An Illinois State Police Certificate of Training will be provided to you upon successful completion of this class.
Equipment:
You will need the following items for this course: 1) A defensive caliber handgun (.22 Caliber handguns are acceptable for this class). Rental handguns are available. 2) 50 rds of target ammunition. 3) At least 1 usable magazine for your handgun (if using a semi-automatic). 4) Eye and ear protection. 5) Note taking material. 6) An open mind.
